Laura Landon

LICENSED LEGAL PARAPROFESSIONAL (LLP)

Laura began her legal career in 2009 as a construction defect and estate planning paralegal. She found this work interesting, but felt compelled to help in an area for which she had more passion and quickly transitioned to full-time family law. During this time, while raising her two sons, she earned her Bachelor of Legal Studies. She has been working in family law since 2009 and has come to appreciate the opportunity to help clients through difficult and emotional times as they navigate the legal system. Her extensive experience as a family law paralegal has been invaluable when assisting clients dealing with divorce, legal separation and disputes over parenting responsibilities and child support. She has supported a Colorado SuperLawyer for over a decade and routinely assists in complex litigation matters.

In 2021, Laura was invited by Judge Angela Arkin (Ret.) to participate in a Colorado Supreme Court initiative to bring another profession to the state - the Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP). The state has long recognized a need for additional access to justice for the many individuals navigating family law issues without representation. The LLP program provides an alternative option for affordable legal services by licensing highly experienced family law paralegals and paraprofessionals to practice exclusively in a defined capacity in family law.  Laura has been volunteering and advocating for this new profession for several years and testified before the Colorado Supreme Court on its behalf in 2022.

After several years dedicated to this cause, Laura is thrilled to see that it has finally come to fruition - she sat for the very first Colorado Licensed Legal Paraprofessional Bar Exam on April 30, 2024. She passed this rigorous exam. She was one of Colorado's first LLPs sworn in at the Colorado Supreme Court on June 20, 2024.

Laura looks forward to serving clients with honest and diligent representation. Her clients have described her as approachable and offering a confident and calming energy during the trying experiences of domestic conflict and litigation. She is familiar with the challenges that parents must navigate when undergoing a family law matter, and she offers a compassionate yet practical approach to helping clients move forward.

Laura is a member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, as well as the Family Law Section of the Bar. She volunteers as Co-Chair of the Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association's LLP Section, educating paralegals about the profession and promoting the interests of LLPs within the legal community.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys golf, playing cards and working on home renovation projects.
