Darius T. Dugas Carter

Darius T. Dugas Carter was born in Montana, the second of four children. Mr. Carter graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration before obtaining his Juris Doctor from the University Of Denver Sturm College Of Law. Since becoming licensed to practice law in 2010, Mr. Carter has focused his practice on family law as well as bankruptcy and appellate law matters involving domestic relations.
Mr. Carter’s experience includes complex divorce litigation, child custody disputes, post-decree modifications of child support and parental responsibilities, adoptions, child support enforcement matters, as well as appeals. Mr. Carter has extensive experience in litigation and family law matters, beginning as an intern while in law school with the Denver District Court and participation with the Children’s Legal Advocacy Group, as well as Metro Volunteer Lawyers.
While Mr. Carter greatly enjoys zealously advocating for his clients and their children in the courtroom, many times his calm demeanor and reasoned approach allows for resolution of disputes prior to litigation. Mr. Carter’s clients value his compassionate advice and strong representation of their rights and for the interests of their children.
Mr. Carter is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, and active participant of the Family Law Section, previously serving with the Young Lawyers Division, as well as faculty presenter for numerous Continuing Legal Education topics. He is also an active member, and past-president of the Douglas-Elbert Bar Association, having served as an officer from 2013-2017. Mr. Carter presently serves on the board of directors for the Castle Pines Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Carter has been recognized as a “Ones to Watch” by U.S. News and recipient of various awards and preeminent ratings.
Mr. Carter treasures his wife, three children and dogs. In his free time he can be found with them enjoying the outdoors in the mountains, on the water, or traveling.
